D1. USA-Beijing
Depart USA to Beijing.

D2. Beijing (L)
Upon arrival in Beijing, you are met by our tour guide and transferred to the hotel.

D3. Beijing-Urumqi (B, L)
You board a 4-hour flight to Urumqi, the capital of Xinjiang Uighur Autonomous Region. After arrival, you visit a local market – Bazaar. In the evening, you have a better appreciation for Uighur culture.

D4. Urumqi (B, L)
You take a cruise on Lake of Heaven, which elevates of 6400 ft above the sea level. It is a beautiful highland lake, flanked by rugged pines and cypresses, and with clear waters that reflect the surrounding mountains.

D5. Urumqi-Turpan (B, L)
Passing by Flaming Mountain, you take motorcoach to Turpan, a Uighur town set in a large oasis surrounded by desert and mountains. You stop at the Gaochang Ruins, once an important garrison town on the Silk Road. Then you attend a local dance show.

D6. Turpan-Dunhuang (B, L)
Turpan is famous for its sweet grapes and other fruits. The visit to the Grape Valley and the homes of Uighur farmers is an extraordinary experience. You take over night soft sleeper train to Dunhuang in the evening.

D7. Dunhuang (B, L)
You will arrive in Dunhuang in the morning. Dunhuang was a major point of interchange between China and the outside world during Han and Tang dynasties, also a stopping-off post for both incoming and outgoing trading caravans. You visit the Dunhuang Museum and the Singing Hills, where you will experience a short camel-riding along the Echoing-Sand Dune to reach the Crescent Lake.

D8. Dunhuang (B, L)
You visit the Mogao Caves – the ‘World Art Treasure House'. It is the world's most important sites of ancient Buddhist culture. The grottoes, also known as Caves of the Thousand Buddha, preserve nearly a thousand years of Buddhist cave-temple architecture, clay sculpture, mural paintings, and manuscripts, dating from the 5th to the 14th centuries. Besides, you enjoy a Silk Road Singing and Dancing Show in the evening.

D9. Dunhuang-Jiayuguan Pass-Lanzhou (B, L)
You are drived to Jiayuguan Pass (4 hours), which was considered both the western tip of the Great Wall and the western boundary of the empire. Then you visit the Jiayuguan Fort and the overhanging Great Wall. Next you take overnight soft sleeper train to Lanzhou.

D10. Lanzhou-Xi'an (B, L)
Upon arrival in Lanzhou in the morning, you take a half-day tour to Bingling Grottoes, also know as the Bingling Temple, which is one of China's best grottoes. With the first cave built in 420 AD, Bingling Grottoes are next to those in Dunhuang and the Maiji Mountain in magnitude and the value of their historical relics. Then you take a late afternoon short flight to the starting point of the historic Silk Road - Xi'an.

D11. Xi'an (B, L)
Xi'an was the former capital of China and enjoys a 5000 year old history. In 221 BC, Qin Shi Huang unified China and became its first emperor. When he died, an entire Terra Cotta Army was constructed and buried with him. It was uncovered serendipitously in 1974 by farmers, and then became one of the century's great archeological discoveries. Besides, you enjoy the world famous Tang Dynasty Stage Show in the evening.

D12. Xia-Beijing (B, L)
You are drived by the Ancient City Wall, and stop to visit the Bell Tower. Finishing up the tour in Xi'an with a visit to the Big Wild Goose Pagoda. Then you depart Xi'an for Beijing by air. Upon arrival, you explore the city on your own.

D13. Beijing-USA (B)
You are transferred to the airport for the flight back to the States.
